Like others in the lodging industry, Choice’s
IT infrastructure is a hodgepodge of decades-
old legacy systems, some based on the first
computerized reservation system—originally
designed for the airline industry 25 years
ago—mixed in with newer systems based on
proprietary languages and protocols and some
more-recent technologies, such as C, Java,
and even a little .NET. Its core is its central
reservation system (CRS), which stores up-to-
date information about Choice’s inventory of
rooms, room rates, and availability. Layered on
top are applications and processes that push
that information out to its Website, reserva-
tion call center, and third-party distributors.
